I totally agree with this! I'm fine with minor details being changed, things being added and subtracted, etc. Because sometimes certain things just don't translate well from page to screen. But I hate when they cut out important parts, or when they substitute pointless new scenes for important scenes in the books. And I totally agree re: actors, it's awful when they don't know anything about the character they're supposed to be playing. I can't understand when actors are playing roles based on book characters and HAVEN'T READ THE BOOKS *cough* Michael Gambon *cough*
