Am I A Hypocrite?
Aug. 25th, 2009 07:50 pmI feel like a hypocrite for writing about Twilight on fanfiction.net, but belonging to two anti-twilight communities. Do you think I'm a hypocrite?
I'm starting to feel like I'm lying or something. I am a part of two communities that discuss all the things they dislike about Twilight. I have an earlier post about how I became involved in Twilight.
My first experience was the movie, and then tons of fanfiction about it. The stories I read made it seem like Twilight was an interesting read with different characters. Some of the fanfiction I read would put Smeyer's writing to shame. It's like they developed the characters more than Smeyer did.
Then, I didn't think the movie was that bad. Yes, it was corny. I hate the sparkling part. The fight scene betwen James and Edward was lame. I still don't understand how fast Bella and Edwadr fell in love. Blah, blah, blah.
But now that I've read Twilight, the movie still seems like a huge improvement from the book.
Anyway, that was my first contact and based off that I wrote my own fanfics. I don't think they are badfics. Well, I guess I wouldn't since I wrote them.
I tend to only write slash. I leave Bella completely out of the story, as if she never existed. I don't want to write about Bella because now that I know more about the books I have absolutely no interest in writing about her. She is annoying. i might use her as a villain one day.
I've mostly written Jacob/Edward stories. I thinking of writing a Emmett/Carlisle. I tend to put my stories in the movie categorization. I will only write slash about Twilight and will continue to come up with various pairings.
I actually don't mind crossovers with Twilight, but they have to be done really well for me to like them. The two worlds have to be written as if they mesh together without any inconsistencies.

I still feel a bit bad about complaining about certain aspects about Twilight, yet writing about it on fanfiction.net. I don't know. Am I just overeacting?

Some of the characters have so much potential, but Smeyer wastes many pages going on and on about Edward/Bella. Boo!
